Manatee County ordinance
In Manatee County, the owner of an animal is required to immediately remove animal waste from public property, including public walks, recreation areas, and the private property of others. Additionally, waste must be removed from a person's own property if it poses a health or safety threat. This requirement does not apply to disabled persons accompanied by a service animal.
Requirements for animal waste removal
Public Property: The person in control of an animal must immediately pick up and remove any feces left on public walks, recreation areas, or the private property of others.
Private Property: Owners must remove animal waste from their own property if it could be a health or safety risk.
Service Animals: These regulations do not apply to disabled individuals accompanied by a service animal used for assistance.
Consequences of non-compliance
Citations: Violations can result in citations, fines, and other penalties, as provided in Manatee County's Code of Ordinances.
Penalties: Penalties can include fines up to $500 or other legal consequences, such as a second-degree misdemeanor if a citation is refused.
